Blackstar has announced the new ID:Core V3 range of guitar amplifiers, a set of compact practice amplifiers that all offer extensive connectivity, Super Wide Stereo, digital audio recording and more.
On the panel, there’s a rotary voice selector switch, as well as controls for gain, volume and “infinite shape feature” to sweep between USA- and UK-style EQ voicings, or blend the two for the best of both worlds. The effects side of things allows you to run a reverb, delay and modulation at the same time, with a choice of four styles on offer for each effect. For all of the delay effects, the delay time can be set with a tap-tempo button, as well as modulation speed for the Phaser, Chorus/Flanger and Tremolo effects.
All of the effects have been re-voiced for the V3 range, making full use of the Super Wide Stereo tech, meaning a more immersive playing and listening experience than their footprints would belie.
All of the amps in the range feature full-range, linear speakers – meaning audio you jam along to won’t sound choked, and the amps can double as home speakers for gaming, movies or general listening too. They all also come with full USB connectivity, with four-channel recording to make re-amping and using the amp as its own audio interface easy.
The headphone output also won’t sound fizzy, thanks to Cab Rig Lite, Blackstar’s latest configurable cab-sim. Users have a choice of cabinet, mic and room environment. This is accessed, along with other deep editing and patch management tools, through Blackstar’s free Architect software.
The amplifier voices loaded in the ID:Core V3 offer two clean voices (‘Warm’ and ‘Bright’), two crunch voices (‘Crunch’ and ‘Super Crunch’) and two overdrive voices (‘OD 1’ and ‘OD2’), so whether you need searing feedback or a pristine pedal platform, you won’t be short on options
The range comes in three sizes: The Stereo 10 V3, Stereo 20 V3 and Stereo 40 V3 run at 10, 20 and 40 watts through pairs of 3-, 5- and 6.5-inch speakers respectively. All are compatible with Blackstars FS-11 and FS-18 footswitches to toggle effects remotely, and with its PB-1 PowerBank for use on the go.
