Strandberg has announced new versions of the signature models for Plini and Scar Symmetry’s Per Nilsson. The announcement comes ahead of a planned set of live-streamed performances debuting the models.
Boden Plini Edition Neck-Thru
The signature model for Australian prog guitarist Plini has traditionally featured bolt-on construction, until now. This new neck-through version “virtually eliminates the neck heel,” allowing for easy access to all of the 24 fanned frets. The neck is made of roasted maple, and has five-ply carbon fibre reinforcement. This is topped with a 20-inch radius ebony fretboard, itself adorned with Plini’s moon inlay at the 12th fret.
Flanking the neck to form the body is a pair of chambered swamp ash wings.
Hardware consists of a Strandberg EGS Series 5 tremolo bridge and string locks, finished in matte black. These match a pair of black open-coil Plini-edition Strandberg Humbuckers. These are controlled by a three-way pickup selector and master volume.
Lists for $2,995.
Singularity True Temperament
This pair of guitars, with the seven-string finished in Red Blast and the eight-string finished in Blue Blast, features a unique fretting system that compensates for the natural tuning imperfections of strung instruments.
Construction consists of a solid swamp ash body and a bolt-on roasted maple neck, with five-play carbon fibre reinforcement.
Like the finish, the electronics also vary depending on the number of strings you opt for. The seven-string edition sports a Lundgren Modern Vintage humbucker in the neck and bridge position and a Lundgren seven-string single coil in the middle. The eight-string edition features just two Lundgren M8 humbuckers. Both guitars have a master volume and tone control and five-way selector switch.
Strandberg notes that “due to the complexities involved in the manufacturing process of the True Temperament models, availability will be limited.”
The seven-string lists for $3,695 and the eight-string for $3,795.
